Behavior Strategies
P.B.I.S. (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports) is an approach to discipline that: defines appropriate behavior that is expected, teaches expected behaviors, and reinforces appropriate behavior when it occurs. Our school wide rules are: be safe, be respectful, and be responsible. Each month houses are sent home. When your child does something well, please take the time to fill out a house and return it to school. We proudly display them in our classroom. Along with PBIS, we will be using the Zones of Regulation. The Zones of Regulation is a curriculum geared toward helping students gain skills in consciously regulating their emotions, which in turn leads to increased control and problem solving abilities. The four zones include the red zone (angry), yellow zone (stressed, anxious, silly), green zone (ready to learn), and the blue zone (tired, sick, sad).
